Your Solution to Burnout
Unknown: Hi, everyone, it's to
be in a Frederick with wealthy
woman lawyer. I'm so glad you're
here today. I'm hoping that this
topic will really resonate with
you because I have had several
discussions lately with women,
law firm owners who are
experiencing what I'm going to
talk about today. And that is
burnout. Are you battling
burnout? I want to tell you, my
friend, I have been there. I
opened my own law firm business
fresh out of law school, I was
40 at the time, and I was
determined to make it a success,
despite opening it in 2007, the
fall of 2007. We remember what
happened in the fall of 2007,
leading into 2008. Yes, the 2008
recession. But for a while, I
was doing really well, because I
became a foreclosure law firm. I
was working with lenders
representing lenders in
foreclosure matters, among other
things in my practice, but that
was really our bread and butter.
And so Business was booming.
After about a year I of having
my own practice, I brought in a
partner. And we grew our team,
we moved into a bigger fancier
office. And profits were really
pouring in. But at what cost?
Because while we were
successful, I hadn't yet learned
how to stop trying to be all
things to all people. So for
quite a while I was functioning
as a senior partner, managing
attorney, firm administrator
litigator with my own caseload.
I was functioning as my own
assistant. And some days, many
days, I was an official, their
unofficial therapist, for my
employees and my clients who I
really needed boundaries back
then, I felt so overworked and
overwhelmed and completely
exhausted. And that's when it
happened. Everything blew up in
my face all at once, because I
was overworking and I was over
worrying. It had a profound
impact on my health and on my
most important relationships. So
many things begin to spiral out
of control in my personal life.
And I made a very difficult
choice to walk away from my law
firm business. If only someone
had told me that there was
another way, maybe I would have
made a different choice. It took
me years of soul searching,
therapy, mindset coaching,
business coaching, to discover
where and why I had gone wrong.
Today, I'm on a mission to help
other women law firm owners
avoid my mistakes. So they can
create wealth generating law
firms and lifestyles they love.
So if you can relate, if you
found yourself taking vacation,
quote, unquote, with your laptop
more times than without it, if
you feel like you're always
doing all the things, if you
feel like good help is
impossible to find. Let me
assure you there is another way
you don't have to do what I did
and blow it all up to get
clarity and answers to your
business billing questions. You
can build a wealth generating
law firm business without
tearing yourself down in the
process. I know this because I
have helped numerous numerous
women law firm owners over the
past nine years do that very
thing. Just today I spoke with a
woman law firm owner who said
she was ready to throw in the
biz the towel on her business.
Just last week. She already had
an appointment scheduled with
me, but she was so burned out
last week that she didn't think
she could get out of bed and go
another day. My advice to her
and it's my advice to you if
you're feeling the same way is
don't do it. Until you have
asked for help. There are so
many great resources available
to you. Resources I wish I'd had
when I started my firm straight
out of law school. So I want you
to learn from my mistake. Don't
wait to ask for help until your
life feels like a dumpster fire.
Reach out to me or to another
business coach, mindset coach
ASAP. Your future self will
thank you.
